What is a Heuristic Usability Review or Analysis?
The goal of a usability analysis is to identify, document, and prioritize issues impeding usability on your website. Usability analysis includes a thorough review for a variety of standard usability factors, such as ease-of-use, look-and-feel, and navigation. Multiple user flows and tasks are performed and reviewed and issues are documented and prioritized allowing for phased implementation. Included in the analysis are recommended solutions for addressing issues.
All Usability Reviews are tailored to the client's needs. Typical analysis includes:
- Defining tasks, scenarios and user flows site visitors are expected to perform
- Homepage evaluation for overall usability
- Perform/walkthrough tasks, scenarios and user flows
- Review registration and confirmation emails for impact on user flow
- Evaluate language and nomenclature
- Identify and document user experience issues
- Prioritize issues based on severity
- Recommendations to address usability issues
The Deliverable
After a Usability Analyst has completed the review a PDF file is delivered containing all usability issues including screenshots. Issues are prioritized to allow for a phased implementation schedule and include solutions addressing issues.
The Payoff
A usability review will allow for implementation of a superior user-experience offering visitors an easy-to-use website, thus reducing user-abandonment prior to completing key goals such as making a purchase, registering, downloading a file or simply navigating your website.
